The 202FA is built to provide you with superb professional image quality. Yet, it is easy and comfortable to operate. Setting the efficient metering system to automatic exposure, you can concentrate on the subject without having to think too much about the camera controls. Adding an optional winder, you will be equipped with the ideal camera for active reportage and all-round work in rapidly changing lighting conditions.Selective area metering

High class metering system
The 202FA features a precise aperture priority metering system primarily designed to use the Hasselblad lenses and film magazines fitted with databus connections. The camera's microprocessor compiles the transmitted aperture and film speed values with the light meter reading and automatically calculates the appropriate shutter speed. If you wish, you can just release the camera for an auto-exposure, or alternatively you can use the metered value as a reference and adjust the exposure according to your judgment or preference.User-friendly design
With the camera steadily resting in the palm of your left hand your left index finger will touch the release button and all metering and programming controls will be within comfortable reach of your left thumb. Without taking your eye from the viewfinder you can change between operating modes, adjust the shutter speed, meter the light values in different subject areas, lock an exposure value, control the flash output, program various functions, and so on. All vital information will be shown on the camera display.
Focal plane shutter with speeds up to 1/1000 s
Like the other cameras in the Hasselblad 200 series, the 202FA is equipped with an electronically controlled focal plane shutter. The shutter speed range is 34 min — 1/1000 s and flash sync is possible at all speeds up to 1/90 s.Uses the large aperture FE lenses …
Working with the camera handheld in low light conditions, or when you require a fast shutter speed to freeze a subject in motion, or need to minimize the depth-of-field to blur out a disturbing background, the large apertures FE lenses are unsurpassed within medium format. The Zeiss Planar FE 110 mm lens with a maximum aperture of f/2 is the fastest one and many Hasselblad photographers consider it as the perfect “standard” lens.… and the full range of CFi/ CF and CFE lenses
To extend the range of optional focal lengths, you can also utilize the Hasselblad converters and CFE leaf shutter lenses. As they are equipped with data bus connections, you will fully benefit from the automatic exposure system. You can even use the entire series of CFi/CF lenses for automatic exposures provided the preset aperture is manually stopped down before releasing the camera. As the 202FA is designed to use the focal plane shutter only, you disengage the leaf shutter by simply turning the lens shutter speed ring to the “F” position.
1.3 frames per second with winder
The automatic metering system in combination with the shorter shutter speeds that are enabled by the large aperture FE lenses, will allow you to work fast. By replacing the winding crank with an optional winder you can work even faster. The camera will always be ready for the next shot and if you keep the release button depressed, the winder will allow sequence exposures at a rate of up to 1.3 frames per second.Automatic mode for action shooting
The Automatic mode is, of course, the most convenient one when you take pictures of fast moving subjects, especially in changing lighting conditions. You just preset the aperture and the 202FA will automatically provide the shutter speed that will produce a perfectly exposed picture. You can concentrate on focusing, image composition and, equally important, releasing the camera at the very right moment.
In Automatic mode the system is so exact that shutter speed changes are made in increments as small as 1/12 of an EV-valueManual mode for creative photography
Should you prefer to determine the exposure yourself, you turn the mode selector dial to Manual mode. Now you can freely set the aperture and shutter speed you want. The metering system will still be engaged, but will not affect the exposure. Instead it will support you by showing the difference in EV-values between the aperture/shutter speed combination you have chosen and the one the metering system calculates as “normal”.The shutter speed is set by depressing the adjustment buttons on the control panel. If you like, you can lock the shutter speed setting by turning the selector dial to the manual locking position, ML.
The meter keeps an eye on the light
The Differential mode is very useful when the lighting conditions are relatively stable and you require consistently exposed pictures. By metering a subject area that you judge to be “normal gray” and storing the exposure value, you can recompose the image, or photograph other surrounding subjects using the same exposure. As long as you do not change the value, you will obtain consistent exposures even if you change lenses or film speeds, or adjust the aperture/shutter speed combination. The system will continuously meter the areas which are covered by the metering zone and the display will inform you about any difference in EV-steps between the stored value and the metered current one. Should you find that the lighting has changed, you can, whenever you like, delete the stored value by storing a new one.
TTL/OTF flash metering
When working with flash as the main light source or as fill-in light, the 202FA facilitates your work and provides you with correctly exposed images. The well proven Hasselblad TTL/OTF flash metering system meters the light which is reflected off the film. You can use any flash unit complying with the European SCA-standards, or the Hasselblad D-Flash 40, which is specially dedicated to the camera's metering system and ensures you of an even illumination of the 6x6 cm format. An open door to the entire Hasselblad system — today and tomorrow
The 202FA is based on the same modular design as the other Hasselblad cameras. It means that it is compatible with most accessories in the Hasselblad system and when new products are released you can upgrade your equipment to increase its versatility for years to come.Related Pages:
